Youth Congress Leader Threatens EC Office Amid Vote Theft Claims; BJP Accuses Congress of Inciting Violence
A leader from a youth group of a political party in India, named Zeenat, said she and her group would surround the office of the people who manage elections if they don't take seriously the claims that votes were stolen in a past election.
Another political party, the BJP, got very angry about this.
They said that Zeenat's party, led by Rahul Gandhi, isn't actually worried about stolen votes.
Instead, the BJP believes they are just trying to cause trouble, spread false stories, and attack the important government offices that run elections.
Rahul Gandhi had previously said that many votes were stolen in an election in a place called Haryana, even showing a picture of a woman from Brazil that he claimed was used to make fake votes.
The woman in the picture was surprised her image was being used like that.
The BJP says this whole situation is about inciting anger and riots, not about fair elections.
Mumbai Youth Congress President Zeenat Shabrin threatened to 'gherao' (lay siege to) the Election Commission of India (ECI) office amid the ongoing 'vote chori' row.
The threat was made in defense of Rahul Gandhi's allegations of massive vote fraud in the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections.
The BJP strongly condemned the Youth Congress leader's remarks, accusing the Congress of inciting violence and attacking constitutional bodies.
Rahul Gandhi had previously alleged that 25 lakh votes were stolen in Haryana, citing the repeated use of a Brazilian model's photograph as evidence of fake voting.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla stated that the Congress's real intention is to attack constitutional bodies and spread disinformation, calling it 'danga khori' (riotous behavior).
