Budget 2026: Tax Relief and Expectations
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is going to present the Union Budget for the year 2026-27 on February 1, 2026.
This will be her eighth budget and the 80th since India's independence.
Last year's budget made big changes to income tax, making more money tax-free and simplifying rules.
Now, people earning up to Rs 12.75 lakh (if salaried) or Rs 12 lakh (if non-salaried) don't have to pay any income tax.
The new tax slabs also make taxes lower for people earning more.
As the budget for 2026 approaches, people are hoping for more good news, but the government might just keep the current good changes without making big new ones.

Budget 2025 increased the tax-free income threshold to Rs 12.75 lakh for salaried and Rs 12 lakh for non-salaried taxpayers.
New tax slabs under the revised regime reduce the marginal tax burden for middle-income earners.
Section 87A rebate now allows zero tax liability for individuals earning up to Rs 12 lakh.
