India's Rooftop Solar Installations Surge in Q2 2025
Imagine the sun helping power homes in India!
In the second quarter of 2025, many more homes started using solar panels on their roofs.
This increase was huge - about a third more than the previous three months, and more than double compared to the same time last year.
The government's program and lower prices made it easier for people to switch to solar.
Most of the new solar panels were installed on houses.
Overall, India now has a lot of solar power from rooftops, and this trend is expected to continue.
However, issues such as module shortages and unclear rules could slow down this progress.
States like Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh led the way in using solar power.
India added 1.6 GW of rooftop solar capacity in Q2 2025, up 33% quarter-on-quarter.
Residential segment accounted for over 74% of installations in Q2 2025.
India added 2.8 GW of rooftop solar capacity in the first half of 2025.
Cumulative rooftop solar installations reached 16.5 GW as of June 2025.
Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Rajasthan led in rooftop solar capacity additions.
