Bitcoin Struggles to Rebound After Brief Surge
Bitcoin, a popular digital currency, didn't do very well before Christmas.
Even though the S&P 500, which is a group of big companies, did really well and hit new highs, Bitcoin stayed flat.
This is because a lot of people lost money in the crypto market, especially after a big selloff started in October.
This selloff was caused by the quick sale of nearly $19 billion in leveraged positions.
Because of this, Bitcoin is still worth less than it was at the beginning of 2025, even after a brief increase to $90,000.
Bitcoin remained flat in the run-up to Christmas despite S&P 500 record highs.
The broader crypto market is recovering from a prolonged selloff starting in October.
Nearly $19 billion in leveraged positions were liquidated, triggering the selloff.
Bitcoin is still below its 2025 starting levels.
Bitcoin experienced a brief surge to $90,000 but failed to sustain the momentum.
