Yamuna River Water Quality: Few Stations Meet Bathing Standards
Imagine the Yamuna River is like a bathtub, and right now, most of it isn't clean enough to swim in.
The government tested the water in different spots and found that only a few met the standards for safe bathing.
One of the biggest problems is that dirty water from homes and factories is going into the river without being cleaned first.
The government is working to fix this by building treatment plants to clean the water before it goes into the river.
They have already started many projects, but there's still work to be done to make the Yamuna clean again.
Only 13 of 33 Yamuna River water quality stations meet bathing standards.
Untreated sewage discharge is a key reason for the river's poor health in Delhi.
The Delhi treatment gap is 645.55 million liters per day (MLD) as of June 2025.
NMCG is funding projects in multiple states to reduce pollution.
35 projects have been sanctioned with 21 completed to improve sewage treatment.
