NSE IPO Makes Muted Debut, Shares Rise Over Five Percent

The National Stock Exchange sold shares to the public in a large IPO.

Its shares began trading at ₹1,800, only slightly above the IPO price of ₹1,785.

This was considered a quiet or muted debut.

Later, the shares rose to ₹1,878, which was more than 5% above the starting price.

Investors had requested many more shares than were available.

Institutional investors showed the greatest interest.

The IPO was an offer for sale, meaning existing shareholders sold their shares rather than the exchange issuing new ones.

It was India’s second-largest IPO after Hyundai Motor India’s 2024 issue.

Market expectations before listing were mixed because grey-market premiums had weakened from earlier levels.
