Chengalpet Govt Nurses Hold One-Hour Work Boycott Over Demands

Chengalpet Govt Nurses Hold One-Hour Work Boycott Over Demands

Some nurses in Chengalpet, a town in India, take care of sick people at a big government hospital.

On Thursday morning, they stopped working for one whole hour.

They wore black badges to show that they were unhappy.

The nurses are asking the government to give them permanent jobs.

Many of them have been working as temporary nurses for more than ten years.

There are also not enough nurses at the hospital, so the ones working have too much to do.

The nurses say only about 200 nurses are working when around 1,000 are needed.

They also want the government to hire more nurses across the whole state of Tamil Nadu.

The nurses plan to protest again on Friday until the government listens.
