Indian Navy Commissions Second Seahawks Squadron
The Indian Navy has added a new group of advanced helicopters called MH-60R, nicknamed 'Ospreys', to its fleet.
This is the second group of these helicopters, and they will help the Navy find and track submarines, fight against ships, and do other important jobs at sea.
The helicopters can also be used for rescuing people and moving supplies between ships.
The Navy got these helicopters from the United States and they cost a lot of money.
The helicopters have special tools like radar and cameras to help them do their jobs better.
The Navy says these helicopters will make India stronger in protecting its waters and fighting different kinds of threats.
Indian Navy commissioned its second MH-60R helicopter squadron, INAS 335 'Ospreys', at INS Hansa in Goa.
The MH-60R helicopters are designed for anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, search and rescue, and medical evacuation.
The first squadron, INAS 334, was inducted at INS Garuda in Kochi in March 2024.
The helicopters are equipped with advanced features like multi-mode radar, electronic support measures, and dipping sonars.
The Indian Navy has acquired 24 MH-60R helicopters from the US for over Rs 15,000 crore, with an additional Rs 7,995 crore allocated for sustainment support over five years.
