MP Questions Tagore Statue at Jallianwala Bagh, Government Responds
A politician asked the government if there was a statue of Rabindranath Tagore at the Jallianwala Bagh memorial, a place where a massacre happened long ago.
The government said no, and they don't plan to put one up.
Tagore was a famous person who spoke out against the massacre and gave back an award he received because he disagreed with how people were treated.
The politician and others from his party want the government to change its mind and include something about Tagore at the memorial, believing it's important to remember his contribution to the freedom struggle.
They are not happy with the government's current stance.
TMC MP Ritabrata Banerjee inquired about a Rabindranath Tagore statue at the Jallianwala Bagh memorial.
The Ministry of Culture confirmed there is no Tagore statue and no plans for one.
Tagore protested the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre and renounced his Knighthood.
TMC leaders urge the government to include Tagore's representation in the memorial.
The MP expressed dissatisfaction with the government's response and demanded action.
