Lavrov Warns Western Troops in Ukraine Would Mean War

Russia’s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, warned that Western soldiers entering Ukraine would be treated as a direct war with Russia.

He also said Russia does not want to become involved in a larger conflict.

Lavrov warned that an attack by Europe on Russia would lead to a very short war.

At the same time, he said Russia is willing to keep discussing peace.

These talks could include Russia, Ukraine, and the United States.

Russia says a settlement must address what it considers the main causes of the conflict.

It also says Russian-speaking people and Orthodox believers in Ukraine should have their rights protected.

Lavrov repeated that Russia wants NATO kept away from its borders.
