Hany Babu Released on Bail After Five Years in Jail
Hany Babu, a professor from Delhi University, was arrested in 2020 and spent five years in jail as an undertrial in the Elgaar Parishad case.
He was accused of being part of a conspiracy related to the banned CPI (Maoist) and was suspended from his job.
During his time in prison, he faced solitary confinement, health issues, and difficulties in communicating with his family.
He was finally granted bail in December 2023.
Babu taught other inmates, read books, and learnt new languages to keep himself busy.
He hopes to return to Delhi and get his job back, but his bail conditions restrict him from leaving Mumbai without court permission.
