Romi Granted Bail in Both Nabha Jailbreak Cases

Romi Granted Bail in Both Nabha Jailbreak Cases

Ramanjit Singh, who is also called Romi, has been granted bail in two cases linked to a prison escape in Punjab.

One court granted bail in the jailbreak case, and another granted bail in a separate case about weapons.

Bail means he may leave jail if the required paperwork and bonds are completed.

His lawyer says those steps should happen soon.

The defence says he could be released from the Amritsar jail in about two weeks.

Police have alleged that Romi helped plan or support the escape while he was in Hong Kong.

The escape happened in 2016, when six inmates got out of Nabha jail.

Romi was brought back to India from Hong Kong in 2024 and has remained in custody while the cases continued.
