Parasakthi Cleared for Release Despite Cuts
Parasakthi is a new movie set in the 1960s about political action.
It was made by Aakash Bhaskaran's company, Dawn Pictures, and is directed by Sudha Kongara.
The movie stars Sivakarthikeyan and Sreeleela.
Recently, someone named KV Rajendram said the movie's story was copied from his own story called 'Chemmozhi'.
He asked the court to stop the movie from being released, but the court said no.
The movie has been approved by the CBFC but with 23 cuts.
The makers of the movie are happy that they can still release it on January 10, which is a good time for movies because of the Sankranti festival.
The movie was originally going to compete with another big movie, but that movie is delayed, so Parasakthi has a better chance to do well.
The CBFC initially suggested 38 cuts, but the director refused changes that could alter the film's historical context, and the clearance was granted on Friday.
Parasakthi is a political action thriller set in the 1960s, produced by Aakash Bhaskaran of Dawn Pictures and directed by Sudha Kongara.
A plagiarism case was filed alleging the film's story was copied from KV Rajendram's story 'Chemmozhi', but the Madras High Court refused to stay the release.
The film received a UA certificate from the CBFC with 23 cuts after initially facing 38 suggested cuts.
The film is scheduled to release worldwide on January 10, 2026, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sreeleela, with improved box-office prospects due to a clear theatrical window.
The rival film Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay, was postponed to January 21 due to a court stay on its release.
