Putin Visits India, Strengthens Ties
Russian President Vladimir Putin visited India for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit.
He met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss ways to strengthen their countries' economic ties.
They talked about increasing trade to $100 billion by 2030 and working towards a free trade agreement (FTA) between India and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
They also discussed energy cooperation, with Russia agreeing to continue fuel shipments to India.
The leaders announced a 30-day free eVisa for travelers from both countries and the launch of RT India, a new division of Russia’s state-funded TV network.
This visit is important because it shows that India and Russia want to work closely together, especially in areas like trade and energy, even though there are some challenges, like Western sanctions on Russia.
