Kansas City Roos hire Mark Turgeon
The Kansas City Roos, a college basketball team, have hired Mark Turgeon as their new head coach.
Mark has a lot of experience coaching basketball and has been to the NCAA Tournament many times.
He used to coach at Maryland but left a few years ago.
The Roos have never been to the NCAA Tournament, so they hope Mark can help them get there.
He will start coaching in 2026 and will bring his son to help coach too.
This is a big deal because Mark is a well-known coach, and it's not common for a team like the Roos to get someone with so much experience.
Mark Turgeon hired as head coach for Kansas City Roos starting 2026-27 season.
Turgeon brings 23+ seasons of coaching experience and 10 NCAA Tournament appearances.
Kansas City Roos have never qualified for the NCAA Tournament since becoming Division I.
Turgeon's son, Will, will join the coaching staff.
Athletic Director Brandon Martin targeted Turgeon to transform the program.
