Omar Abdullah Protests for J&K Statehood
Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, and his father Farooq Abdullah led a protest in Delhi.
They wanted the government to give Jammu and Kashmir its statehood back, which was taken away in 2019.
The protest was supposed to happen at Jantar Mantar, but they couldn't go there because of tear gas and police stopping them.
So, they protested at Prithviraj Road instead.
Omar Abdullah said this is just the beginning of their fight for statehood and the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He also mentioned that his father, who is 89 years old, was leading the protest despite his age, while others were not joining them.
Omar Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah led a protest in Delhi demanding the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
The protest was originally planned for Jantar Mantar but was moved to Prithviraj Road due to tear gas shelling and police intervention.
Omar Abdullah criticized political opponents for not joining the protest, highlighting his father's active participation despite his age.
The protest marked the first time a serving J&K chief minister has taken to the streets to protest for statehood.
Abdullah alleged that protesters were prevented from reaching Jantar Mantar and were met with tear gas shelling.
