Assam Officer Arrested Over Alleged ONGC Oil Theft Racket

Police in Assam arrested a police officer named Dwipen Pator.

He was the police officer responsible for the Sarupathar area.

Investigators say a group stole crude oil by making a hole in an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation pipeline.

Police allege that Pator encouraged the group and took money from some members.

The investigation began after the company filed a complaint on August 3.

Five people have now been arrested, including one woman.

Police are also checking whether some company employees were involved.

They believe the stolen oil may have been taken to West Bengal.

The investigation is still continuing, and more arrests may happen.
