Aarogyasri Services: Government vs. Private Hospital Dispute
The Telangana government and the Telangana Network Hospitals Association (TNHA) are in disagreement about the Aarogyasri health insurance program.
The government says that most private hospitals are still providing services, but the TNHA claims all its member hospitals have stopped.
The TNHA says they stopped services because the government owes them around ₹1,400 crore.
The government is trying to ensure patients still have access to care, including by making arrangements at government hospitals.
The Telangana government states that 87% of private hospitals are still offering Aarogyasri services.
TNHA claims that all its 330 member hospitals have suspended Aarogyasri services.
Aarogyasri CEO Udaya Kumar appealed for hospitals to continue medical services.
Government data indicates 415 out of 477 hospitals continue the service.
