Tamil Nadu Identifies Foreshore Estate Site For New Secretariat
Tamil Nadu plans to build a new place for its Secretariat and Assembly.
The site is in Foreshore Estate, also called Pattinapakkam, in Chennai.
The land covers 21.76 acres.

The current offices are in the historic Fort St George building.
After the new complex is built, the government says Fort St George will be preserved as a heritage site.
Some offices are already being moved to the Namakkal Kavignar building.
Earlier governments also tried to move the Secretariat, but those plans did not succeed or were later changed.
