Vrutti and HSBC India Launch FPO Shakti
Vrutti, with help from HSBC India and FWWB India, has started a new program called FPO Shakti.
This program helps groups of farmers, called FPOs, get the money they need to grow.
Many FPOs struggle to get loans because they are too big for small loans but too risky for regular banks.
FPO Shakti offers different types of financial support and training over two years.
This helps FPOs become stronger and ready to do business.
The goal is to start with 15 groups and then help over 100.
This program aims to make farming groups more successful and improve the lives of farmers.
Vrutti, HSBC India, and FWWB India launched FPO Shakti to support Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).
The initiative aims to address the credit gap faced by FPOs, with fewer than one-third securing formal credit.
FPO Shakti uses a blended finance approach, combining revolving funds, guarantees, revenue-linked finance, and digital record-keeping.
The program will support an initial cohort of 15 early-growth FPOs, with plans to scale to over 100 organisations.
Over 24 months, FPOs will receive tailored technical assistance to strengthen governance, financial discipline, market linkages, and supply-chain systems.
