Joi Barua Joins NASA-Aligned Cosmic Rhapsody Musical Project
Joi Barua is an Indian singer and composer working on a musical project called Cosmic Rhapsody.
The project combines music, animation, science and live orchestral performances.
Barua wrote melodies for two important songs and helped write another.
The songs describe stars exploding and spreading tiny pieces of matter through space.
NASA’s COSI mission studies similar events to learn where elements such as iron and aluminium come from.
The project’s story follows a human and an AI traveling through space to help Earth’s environmental problems.
An animator from Assam, Samudra Kajal Saikia, is creating visuals for the project.
Cosmic Rhapsody is planned to premiere at the Hollywood Bowl in 2027, followed by the launch of the COSI mission.
Indian singer-composer Joi Barua composed melodies for “Star Among the Cosmic Clouds” and “Confetti Storm.”
Barua also co-composed “Confetti Star-Ion” with French composer Manu Martin.
The songs are linked to NASA’s COSI mission, which studies soft gamma rays from supernovae.
Cosmic Rhapsody follows a human and an AI searching space for solutions to Earth’s environmental crisis.
The project is scheduled to premiere at the Hollywood Bowl on July 27, 2027, before COSI’s orbital launch.
