IndiGo Raises Fuel Charges as ATF Prices Surge
Planes need fuel to fly, and IndiGo says that fuel has become more expensive.
The airline is adding higher fuel charges to domestic and international bookings.
The new charges apply to bookings made from October 6, 2026, while earlier bookings are not affected.
Domestic charges depend on how far the plane travels and range from ₹375 to ₹1,300 per sector.
International charges depend on the route and can reach ₹10,000.
IndiGo said fuel prices rose by more than 14% in the latest month.
The airline said a bigger increase would have been needed to cover all of the added fuel cost, but it chose a smaller adjustment.
Passengers booking after the change may therefore pay more for their tickets.
IndiGo is raising fuel surcharges on domestic and international flights because of higher aviation turbine fuel costs.
The revised charges apply to new bookings made from 00:01 on October 6, 2026; previously booked tickets are unaffected.
Domestic surcharges range from ₹375 to ₹1,300 per sector, with increases of ₹100 to ₹350 depending on distance.
International charges vary by destination and distance, with reported amounts ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹10,000.
IndiGo cited a month-on-month ATF price increase exceeding 14% and called its surcharge adjustment measured.
