GST: New Rules and Amnesty Scheme Updates for Taxpayers
Imagine the government is updating how businesses pay taxes.
Starting in May 2025, businesses must use a system to pick codes for goods and services when filing taxes and provide detailed invoice information.
This helps make sure everything is correct and easier to track.
Also, if businesses have tax disputes, there's a chance to get a break on penalties if they pay the tax owed by March 31, 2025.
To get this break, they need to show proof they've started the process to solve the dispute.
This aims to make tax rules clearer and easier to follow.
From May 2025, businesses must select HSN codes from a system list when filing GST returns.
Businesses must report full invoice details each month.
The GSTN is offering an amnesty scheme with potential waivers on interest and penalties.
To apply for the amnesty, taxpayers must submit a screenshot showing they've applied to withdraw their appeal.
The amnesty scheme mainly covers demands for non-fraudulent issues from July 1, 2017, to March 31, 2020.
