Madhya Pradesh's Madhav National Park Sees Tiger Reintroduction Success
Madhya Pradesh's Madhav National Park is bringing tigers back after a long time.
This is like two other places in India that have done this before.
But it's a bit harder because the park is close to a city and didn't have any tigers for 50 years.
The project started in 2023, with tigers moved from other reserves.
The park staff managed the project.
In just 15 months, baby tigers were born!
This means the tigers are doing well and the park is helping them.
Madhav National Park in Madhya Pradesh reintroduced tigers, the third such initiative in India.
The park faced challenges due to the five-decade absence of tigers and urban proximity.
The reintroduction project began in March 2023 with tigers from Satpura and Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserves.
Reproductive success was achieved within 15 months, faster than in Sariska and Panna.
Camera traps captured images of a tigress with cubs in September 2024, indicating successful breeding.
