Indian Railways Hikes Fares Again
Indian Railways is increasing train fares again.
Starting December 26, 2025, passengers will pay more for long-distance travel.
The increase is to cover higher costs and make more money.
For example, a 500 km trip in a non-AC coach will cost ₹10 more.
The fare hike will affect popular routes like Delhi-Howrah and Delhi-Mumbai.
The government expects to earn about ₹600 crore extra this year from these changes.
Some people might find it harder to travel by train because of the higher prices.
Indian Railways increased fares for long-distance travel effective December 26, 2025.
The hike is to meet rising manpower costs and generate additional revenue of ₹600 crore.
Non-AC coaches up to 500 km will see a ₹10 increase, while Mail/Express and AC classes will see a 2 paise per km increase.
Passengers on routes like Delhi-Howrah and Delhi-Mumbai will pay more across all classes.
