CITU Demands CBI Probe into Inferior Steel Production at VSP
The CITU, a workers' union, is very upset because they say the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant is using bad materials to make steel.
This is making the steel bad quality, and people are not buying it.
The plant used to make money, but now it's losing a lot of money.
The union thinks someone is doing something wrong and wants the CBI, which is like a special police for big crimes, to investigate.
They also say many workers have lost their jobs, and the plant is not being run properly.
They want the government to find out why the plant is losing money.
CITU alleges VSP is using inferior coke, leading to poor quality steel.
Buyers are rejecting the steel due to its poor quality.
VSP incurred losses of Rs. 121 crore in July and Rs. 157 crore in August.
Raw material costs have increased from 63% to 75% in 2024.
CITU demands a CBI inquiry into the matter and the intervention of the Chief Minister.
