Delhi to Get High-Rise Buildings with Metro Access
The government plans to allow taller buildings in Delhi to use space more efficiently.
This is because the city is growing and land is limited.
The new buildings will connect directly to metro stations using special elevated walkways, so people can avoid the roads.
The government is also already allowing similar buildings in other cities.
Currently, regular buildings in Delhi can only be a few stories tall, but the government makes exceptions for larger projects.
Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced a new policy for high-rise buildings in Delhi.
The policy aims to maximize space utilization in Delhi due to increasing urbanization.
Multi-story buildings will connect to metro stations via 'hanging ways'.
Around 60 developers in Gurugram and Faridabad already have licenses for such buildings.
The existing Master Plan 2021 restricts building heights, but exceptions exist.
