NYC Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani Names All-Women Transition Team
The person who just won to become the new mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, has picked a team to help him get ready for the job.
He chose five women who have a lot of experience in government and helping people.
Their job is to make sure the mayor's promises, like free bus rides and childcare, can actually happen.
Mamdani said this team will help build a City Hall that is both smart and caring.
Some of the women on the team have worked for the city before, and one even worked for the national government in a big role.
This team is important because it shows how Mamdani plans to make big changes for New York City.
He wants to move from just talking about ideas to actually making them real.
NYC Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani has named an all-women transition team to prepare for his administration.
The team includes experienced officials like former Deputy Mayors Maria Torres-Springer and Melanie Hartzog, former FTC Chair Lina Khan, and United Way of NYC CEO Grace Bonilla.
Political strategist Elena Leopold will serve as the executive director of the transition team.
The team's role is to guide Mamdani's transition to City Hall and help implement his campaign agenda.
Mamdani aims to deliver on promises such as free childcare, free city bus service, and city-run grocery stores.
