Telangana Extends Sankranthi Holidays for Schools
The Telangana government has decided to give school students more time off for the Sankranthi festival in 2026.
Instead of the usual six days, schools will now be closed for seven days, from January 10 to January 16.
This extra day is because January 16 is the Kanuma festival.
All schools, including government, private, and Gurukul schools, will be closed.
The idea is to help students and teachers travel and celebrate with their families.
Classes will start again on January 17.
This decision was made by the Director of School Education, and all education officers in the state have been told to follow it.
Telangana schools will have extended Sankranthi holidays from January 10 to January 16, 2026.
The holiday extension includes an additional day for the Kanuma festival on January 16.
All government, private, and aided schools in Telangana are affected by this decision.
The decision aims to facilitate travel and celebrations for students and teachers during the festive period.
Classes will resume on January 17, 2026, as per the directive from the Director of School Education.
