Fauji Fertiliser Exits PIA Privatisation Race
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is trying to sell 75% of its shares to private companies.
One of the big companies, Fauji Fertiliser, decided not to participate in the bidding process.
This leaves three other companies to compete for the chance to buy PIA.
The government has promised to keep PIA employees' jobs safe for one year.
PIA needs new money and better management to improve its services.
The remaining bidders will submit their offers by December 23.
Fauji Fertiliser Company Ltd withdrew from the bidding for a 75% stake in PIA.
Three prequalified bidders remain in the race, with bids to be submitted by December 23.
The remaining bidders include Airblue (Pvt) Ltd and two consortia led by Lucky Cement and Arif Habib Corporation.
The government has assured PIA employees of one year of job security.
