Telangana Hands Over Land for Mamnoor Airport
The Telangana state government gave 300 acres of land to the central government for building the Mamnoor airport in Warangal.
This is a big step because the project had been stuck for many years.
The Airports Authority of India will pay for the entire project, which includes a runway, terminal building, and other facilities.
The land was acquired quickly, and the airport is expected to be built in about two to two-and-a-half years.
The airport was originally built in 1930 and was one of the largest in South India before Independence.
The government is also planning airports in other cities like Kothagudem and Adilabad.
Telangana government handed over 300 acres of land for Mamnoor airport construction to the Union ministry of civil aviation.
The project is expected to be completed within two to two-and-a-half years from the start of construction.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) will bear the full cost of the project, which includes a 2,500-metre runway, terminal building, and other facilities.
The land acquisition process was completed in less than a year, with the state government sanctioning Rs 295 crore for the additional land needed.
The Mamnoor airport was originally built in 1930 and was one of the largest airports in South India before Independence, closing after 1981.
