Nandini Ghee Price Hiked by Rs 90 Per Litre by KMF
The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has made Nandini ghee more expensive, with a one-litre pack now costing Rs 700, an increase of Rs 90.
This is happening because the cost of making ghee is going up, both globally and because of higher prices for raw materials.
KMF says this increase is needed to keep their business running well.
Recently, the price had actually gone down to Rs 610 because taxes (GST) were reduced.
But now, with higher costs and demand, they are raising the price again.
Smaller packs have also seen price increases.
Some consumer groups are unhappy, especially because the price increase comes before a big festival.
KMF insists their ghee is still affordable compared to other brands.
Nandini ghee, produced by Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), has seen its price increase by Rs 90 per litre, now costing Rs 700.
The price revision, which also affects smaller pack sizes, became effective from Tuesday.
KMF cites rising global market prices for ghee and increased raw material costs as reasons for the hike.
This price increase follows a recent reduction where Nandini ghee was priced at Rs 610 per litre, down from Rs 640, due to a slash in GST slabs.
Consumer groups criticize the timing of the hike before the festive season, while KMF maintains the product remains competitively priced globally.

Price Increase Timing
Consumer Groups
The price hike, especially just before the Deepavali festival, is considered insensitive and exploitative towards middle-class families who rely on Nandini products.
KMF Officials
The price revision is necessary due to sharp increases in raw material costs and global ghee rates, driven by rising demand and global market trends.
Affordability and GST Reduction
Consumer Groups
The increase contradicts the central government's efforts to make dairy products affordable by reducing GST, and KMF briefly passed on tax reduction benefits.
