Ahmedabad Municipality Introduces Property Tax Self-Assessment Software
The government in Ahmedabad is creating new software to help people figure out their property taxes.
Right now, when someone builds a new house or changes an existing one, they have to ask the government to calculate the property tax.
The new software will let people put in the details about their property and the software will tell them how much tax they will likely have to pay.
This will help them understand the costs better before they officially get the tax bill.
The city already collected a lot of money from people who paid their property taxes in advance, and many people benefited from a discount program.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is developing new software.
The software will allow self-assessment of property tax.
Applicants can submit property details to estimate future tax.
Officials will verify self-assessment requests and generate bills.
Rs 708 crore was generated from advance property tax.
