Gujarat Warns of Toxic Liquor Bottles After Seven Deaths

Gujarat Warns of Toxic Liquor Bottles After Seven Deaths

Seven people in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, died after drinking contaminated liquor.

Police found that the bottles they drank from had the same barcode.

The barcode is 8901522000665.

The liquor was sold in bottles labeled as Indian-Made Foreign Liquor.

Gujarat’s State Monitoring Cell warned people not to drink from bottles with that barcode or sticker.

It told anyone who has one to destroy it immediately.

Officials have not said how many bottles may still be available.

The warning is notable because Gujarat has prohibited alcohol since the 1960s.
