Ladakh Village Heads Receive More Than 233 Percent Pay Hike

Ladakh Village Heads Receive More Than 233 Percent Pay Hike

Ladakh’s village heads are called Gobas or Nambardars.

They help connect villagers with the government.

Their monthly payment will increase from Rs 1,500 to Rs 5,000.

This is more than three times their old payment.

The change will help 247 village heads.

They had asked for more money because their duties have grown.

Their work includes helping people access government services and sharing local needs with officials.

Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena approved the increase.

The new payment will begin after an official notification is published.
