55 Lakh Women Dropped From Ladki Bahin Scheme
A lot of women in Maharashtra, India, have been removed from a government scheme that gives them money every month.
This happened because they didn't complete a required online verification process called e-KYC.
The government found out that some women who should not have been getting the money were still receiving it.
They also found that some families who own cars were getting the money, which they are not supposed to.
The government is now sending workers to check the homes of the women who were removed to see if they should still be getting the money.
There is also a helpline for women to call if they have questions or problems.
55 lakh women removed from the MMLBY scheme for failing e-KYC verification.
Estimated monthly savings for the state exchequer is Rs 825 crore.
Instalments halted for 24 lakh beneficiaries due to incorrect e-KYC responses.
Door-to-door verification drive to reassess eligibility of affected beneficiaries.
Scheme provides Rs 1,500 monthly assistance to eligible women aged 21-65.
