Haryana Bans 'Harijan', 'Girijan' in Official Communication

The Haryana government has told all its departments and schools to stop using the words 'Harijan' and 'Girijan' in official papers.

These words were used to refer to Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs), but the Indian Constitution does not use these terms.

The government noticed that some departments were still using these words, so they reminded everyone to follow the rules and stop using them.

This is to make sure everyone uses the correct and respectful terms as per the Constitution.

Mahatma Gandhi had named the SCs as 'Harijans', but BR Ambedkar preferred to call them Dalits.

The government wants to make sure everyone follows the central government's rules and uses the right words.
