Nikkhil Advani Explains Casting Choices For The Revolutionaries
The Revolutionaries is a new show about people who fought British rule in India.
It tells stories about revolutionaries who are less famous than Gandhi, Nehru and Subhas Chandra Bose.
Nikkhil Advani wrote and directed the show.
Some of the characters came from Bengal, so people asked why more Bengali actors were not chosen.
Advani said he wanted many people to watch the series.
He chose actors he believed could help bring the story to a large audience.
Bhuvan Bam plays Rash Behari Bose, even though viewers may have expected someone else.
The series will arrive on Prime Video on September 11.
The Revolutionaries focuses on lesser-known figures from India's revolutionary independence movement.
Nikkhil Advani cast Bhuvan Bam, Rohit Saraf, Pratibha Ranta and Gurfateh Pirzada in leading roles.
Advani said he prioritized reaching a wide audience and selecting what he considered the best young talent.
The casting drew questions because several characters, including Rash Behari Bose and Bagha Jatin, had Bengali roots.
The Revolutionaries premieres on Prime Video on September 11.
