Bribery Arrests Tarnish Dharmabad Villages' Reputation
In the town of Dharmabad, two senior government workers were caught taking bribes.
One, Anil Ramod, was arrested for a small bribe of 8 lakh rupees, and another, Srinivas Lakhamwad, was arrested for a larger bribe of 45 lakh rupees.
The police searched Lakhamwad’s home after his arrest.
People in the area are worried that these arrests make their villages look bad, even though many young people from the same villages have earned jobs in the government by passing exams.
The incidents show that corruption is still a problem in the local government offices.
Two senior officials, Anil Ramod and Srinivas Lakhamwad, were arrested in bribery cases worth Rs8 lakh and Rs45 lakh respectively.
The arrests have drawn negative attention to Dharmabad taluka, despite many young Scheduled Tribe candidates from villages like Jarikot achieving government positions through merit.
The Anti‑Corruption Bureau searched Lakhamwad’s parental home in Dharmabad after his arrest.
Residents fear the bribery scandals tarnish the reputation of villages such as Jarikot and Ratnali.
The incidents highlight ongoing corruption concerns in Nanded district’s revenue and forest departments.
