Trump's Birth Tourism Orders Impact Indian H-1B Visa Holders

Trump's Birth Tourism Orders Impact Indian H-1B Visa Holders

America has a very old rule that says any baby born in the United States becomes an American citizen automatically.

This rule comes from a part of the US Constitution called the 14th Amendment.

President Donald Trump does not like this rule.

He thinks people are traveling to America just to have babies there, which is called 'birth tourism.'

He signed a new order in 2026 to try to stop some of these babies from becoming citizens.

This is his second try, because his first order in 2025 was stopped by the courts.

Many Indian parents work in America on special work visas called H-1B, and their babies born in the US are citizens.

The new order does not say that those families lose citizenship.

But lawyers say to watch carefully, because this might be the first step toward changing the rule.
