HYDRAA Demolishes Structures to Clear Rasoolpura Nala
Imagine a river that gets blocked by houses and shops built too close.
This makes the water overflow and flood the nearby areas.
In Secunderabad, Hyderabad, a group called HYDRAA is removing these buildings that block a water channel called Rasoolpura nala.
The buildings were making the channel too narrow, leading to flooding in places like Patny Colony.
HYDRAA is making the channel wider again and will build a strong wall to stop people from building there again.
They will also clean the channel to help the water flow better, just like making sure the river has enough space to flow without problems.
This should help the neighborhoods stay dry during heavy rains.
HYDRAA began demolishing illegal structures on Friday to clear the Rasoolpura nala.
The demolition aims to address flooding caused by bottlenecks in the nala.
The nala's width was reduced to 15–18 feet due to encroachments.
The cleared stretch will have a retaining RCC wall to prevent future encroachments.
Desilting operations will also be undertaken to improve drain capacity.
