Sufiya Sufi Defends Ladakh Ultra Marathon Title, Chasing Record
Sufiya Sufi is a long-distance runner from India.
She is preparing to race in the Ladakh Silk Route Ultra Marathon.
She won the race last year and wants to defend her title.
She also hopes to finish this year’s race faster than anyone before her.
Sufi has earned five Guinness World Records for very long runs.
She started running in 2017 after feeling unhappy with her repetitive work routine.
At first, she could not run even 100 meters, but she gradually completed marathons and ultra marathons.
Even after being advised not to run such long distances so often, she chose to compete because Ladakh is very important to her.
Her biggest dream is to run about 30,000 kilometers around the world.
Five-time Guinness World Records holder Sufiya Sufi will defend her Ladakh Silk Route Ultra Marathon title.
Sufi aims to win this year’s race with a record-breaking time.
Her records include ultra-distance runs across India, Qatar, and several major Indian routes.
She began running in 2017 after feeling trapped in a monotonous airport-work routine, despite having no sports background.
Sufi’s long-term ambition is a 30,000-kilometer circumnavigation run around the world.
