ABVP to gherao Jharkhand Assembly over lathi-charge on students

In the Indian state of Jharkhand, some students believed that big government exams were not fair.

They decided to protest peacefully to ask the government to fix the problem.

The police used water cannons and long sticks called batons, and some students were arrested.

A large student group called ABVP felt this was not the right way to treat students.

ABVP has said it will lead a peaceful march to the Assembly building where laws are made.

The group wants the possibly unfair exams to be cancelled and held again in a clear and honest way.

It also wants an independent investigation into what happened and into how exam papers may have leaked.

ABVP says it will keep protesting peacefully until the government listens to the students.

The group also said the Congress party should explain why it has stayed quiet even though it is part of the Jharkhand government.
