Ramraj Cotton Sets Asia Record With 3,000-Dhoti Pookkalam
Ramraj Cotton made a very large design for the Onam festival.
The design was called a Mundukalam, or Pookkalam.
It was about 30 feet wide.
Instead of using only flowers, the display used nearly 3,000 dhotis.
It was created at Forum Mall in Kochi on August 9.
The Asia Book of Records recognized it as the largest Pookkalam made with dhotis.
Sanjay Bhola presented the award to company leaders K. R. Nagarajan and B. R. Arun Eshwar.
The company said the display showed an old cultural tradition in a new way.
