BJP Promises Industry on Singur Land
The BJP in West Bengal promised to set up a new automobile industry on the same land in Singur where the Tata group once had a factory.
This promise came after Prime Minister Modi's speech at a rally in Singur, where he did not explicitly talk about industrialization.
Farmers who attended the rally were disappointed because they expected Modi to assure them of new industries.
The BJP leader, Samik Bhattacharya, said that the Prime Minister's presence itself was a message of industrialization.
The TMC, the ruling party, held a counter-rally and claimed that West Bengal is already a leader in small and medium enterprises.
They also mentioned that the Tata Group has plans to set up an industry in the state.
