NDP claims victory in St. Vincent election

NDP claims victory in St. Vincent election

In the recent election in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the New Democratic Party (NDP) claimed victory.

Their leader, Godwin Friday, announced the win on social media.

This is a big deal because it could end the long rule of the Unity Labour Party (ULP), which has been in power for 24 years.

People dressed in yellow, the NDP's color, celebrated in the streets.

The current prime minister, Ralph Gonsalves, has been in office since 2001 and was seeking another term.

Other leaders in the region have congratulated both Gonsalves and Friday.

The NDP has previously talked about changing the country's relationship with Taiwan, but their recent manifesto did not mention it.
