Marathi Computer Engineering Program Celebrates First Graduates
Imagine a college where students learn computer engineering in Marathi, their native language.
This program, started four years ago, just saw its first group of students graduate!
These students came from different parts of Maharashtra and even a few from other language backgrounds.
The goal was to see if students could succeed in engineering using their own language.
It worked!
All the students finished the program, showing that learning in your mother tongue can be a great way to understand difficult topics.
This matches up with new ideas about education that say learning in your own language helps you learn better and be more creative.
Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering launched a computer engineering program in Marathi.
The first batch of 67 students completed their degrees in the program.
Students came from diverse districts across Maharashtra, with a few from other linguistic backgrounds.
The program saw no dropouts and full enrollment throughout the years.
The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy's emphasis on mother-tongue education.
