US Consulates in India Cancel Visa Appointments for Renewals
The U.S. is changing how some people renew their visas in India.
Previously, some could just mail in their paperwork (Dropbox).
Now, people with H, L, F, M, J, E, and O visas will need to have a face-to-face interview to renew.
The change starts in September 2025.
If you had a renewal appointment in August or September, it was canceled.
You should check your email and visa profile to reschedule.
Also, if you paid your visa fee a year ago, it might not be valid anymore.
U.S. consulates in India are canceling visa renewal appointments for August and September 2025.
The cancellations are due to a policy update ending Dropbox eligibility for certain visa categories.
Affected visa types include H, L, F, M, J, E, and O visas.
Applicants will now require in-person interviews for renewals.
Those affected should check their email and visa profiles for updates and rescheduling instructions.
