Odisha Plans AI, Drones to Protect Sanitation Workers

Odisha wants to make sanitation work safer.

Sanitation workers can sometimes die from poisonous gases inside septic tanks.

The state plans to use cameras, drones and artificial intelligence to check tanks before workers enter.

Workers may also receive oxygen masks, helmets and other safety equipment.

They will be trained to use the new tools.

Odisha will mark the fourth Saturday of August as Garima Diwas.

This day will raise awareness about workers’ safety and social security.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi called the plan Mission Zero.

The goal is to stop deaths before they happen.
