Bihar Students Protest Over School Facilities, Prompting Salary Suspensions
In late July, about 40 to 50 students from Simuara Middle School in Bihar marched about 4 kilometers to the local government office because their school lacked basic things like clean water, toilets, good food, and fans in classrooms.
The protest made the district officials investigate the school.
They sent a team to look at the problems and told the headmaster to fix them in a week.
The school’s headmaster and seven teachers were asked to explain why the protest happened and were told that their salaries for that day would be withheld until they answered.
The whole event shows how students can speak up when their school is not safe or comfortable.
Students from Simuara Middle School marched ~4 km to Tikari SDM office demanding better facilities.
Protest triggered departmental inquiries, show‑cause notices, and suspension of staff salaries for the day.
Complaints included lack of drinking water, toilets, mid‑day meal quality, uniforms, and classroom fans.
